The Power of Your Smile

A smile can influence your attitude!

A few years back the university of Ca at San Francisco discovered that mimicking the facial expressions associated with such emotions as happiness, sadness and anger, could actually trigger some of the same physical changes produced by the actual emotions.  The reason for this is because  facial muscles send signals in the automomic nervous system which controls certain muscles and gland activity.  Since we tend to mirror expressions of those around us this causes the physical reactions.

The research explains why smiles can be infectuouis/contageous in a happy group of people and where there are  feelings of frustration and anger it can easily turn a crowd into a mob.

When someone smiles at me I automatically want to smile back.  What about you?

The research findings imply that people can change their feelings by just putting a smile on their face.  So, due to the mind/body connection you can see how smiles, state of mind, etc could have an affect on a persons over all health.
